All of the top name brand drivers being produced today must be limited in their performance so that they can pass the USGA's standard. So, with our process we are basically converting a legal club into an illegal one by taking it well past the performance standard allowed by the USGA. The reason they are illegal is because (USGA) has a rule that says if the face of your driver is acting like a spring to give the ball an extra boost, then it is illegal. The way to create the type of spring like effect that the USGA deems illegal is to make the metal on the face of the driver thinner so that it has more of a trampoline effect when it hits the ball. This is the main difference between a conforming and non conforming driver and the exact effect that we are creating by shaving a certain amount of material off the face of the driver.

Once we perform the work on your club, it won't be legal to use it in any sanctioned tournament or event, but you can sure use it to go out and beat your buddies. You might ask, why not just buy a non-conforming club? Well, the problem is that the USGA has pressured the top brand name club makers to stop producing any non conforming clubs. Therefore, the only ones available from the top name manufacturers were made several years ago and are either well used or extremely rare and overpriced. It is also very hard to know if you can trust the person who is listing it on eBay.

With only a few exceptions, the vast majority of non conforming drivers still being produced are made by the small, no name companies whose quality is severely lacking. Even if you found a driver with a high performing clubface the shaft is usually of very low quality. Also, as you've probably found out the hard way, you can't simply go out and buy a high performing club and have it suit your swing. Most players have a unique swing that is best matched with a particular club. The ideal situation is to take a club you already swing well and have it enhanced to make it hit further.
